FTC Reporting Requirements Compliance (Effective May 2024)

The SafeGuards rule is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and provides certain protections for consumers who hand over their personal financial information to obtain goods and services. Not only does this rule cover financial entities, but effective in 2024, "incidental players" or "finders" also have to comply. This means that any business that collects sensitive financial information and transmits it to a financial entity must comply with the new regulations or risk heavy FTC fines.

At The Dakota Law Firm we recognize that Data Privacy laws and regulations are constantly changing. In fact, the SafeGuards rule explicitly mandates that entities adapt to contemporary changes to how information is collected, stored, and used. It is our job to keep our clients up to date on new requirements. Contact is today to discuss your company's privacy program and how we can work together to make it stronger!
